Pedaling with purpose: Albert Brandt powers Team Keyera

Just months after hip replacement surgery, Albert Brandt is already miles ahead…and not just on a bike.

Albert Brandt, Manager, Construction Major Projects is off to a speedy start with his fundraising efforts, already surpassing the $21,000 mark for the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, climbing to second overall among top individual fundraisers, and earning the tour’s Tire Track Qualifier status.

He doesn’t just like cycling – he lives it. Road rides, gravel grinds, fat tire adventures and especially his first love – mountain biking.

When Keyera signed on as a major multi-year sponsor of the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, Albert didn’t hesitate. He was in.

Over the holidays, he took time to read through fellow riders’ stories; some filled with heartbreak, others with resilience, survival and hope. It was the message of hope that ultimately motivated him to register and fundraise.

Now he’s proving that recovery can turn into momentum.

Team Keyera is currently sitting first overall in the team category! With Albert setting the pace, that lead looks strong.

A few fun facts about Albert:

  • Completed the 2022 Penticton Ironman (which was Albert’s first triathlon) after his wife challenged him to sign up. That’s a grueling 3.8km swim, 180km bike, and 42.2km marathon.
  • Took on the Ironman 70.3 Calgary. Another 1.8km swim, 87.5km bike, and 21km run.
  • Competed in two solo 24-hour mountain bike races in Golden and Vernon.
