Engaging with communities

stronger together

Collaboration and shared success are at the core of how we connect with communities, landowners, and stakeholders.

By starting conversations early and maintaining ongoing engagement, we gain valuable insights into community needs and discover opportunities to work together to strengthen economic and social resilience.

Our commitment to community engagement is built on three key pillars:

  • Meaningful dialogue and engagement
  • Enhancing economic and social wellbeing
  • Investing in communities to build capacity and resilience
staying connected

Engagement throughout the asset lifecycle

We engage with communities throughout the life cycle of our assets.  Our engagement begins well before a project is sanctioned and continues through development, operation, decommissioning, and reclamation. For each project, we develop formal engagement plans that guide how we communicate, collaborate, address stakeholder interests, and fulfill our commitments.

Proactive engagement is central to our approach:

  • Enables constructive dialogue
  • Creates opportunity for meaningful collaboration; and
  • Helps us identify and mitigate potential risk

We use various communication channels to share and gather input on proposed plans, including presentations to local officials and open houses for the public. For those directly impacted by our projects, we prioritize face-to-face conversations as a way to support open dialogue and address emerging concerns.

Our commitment to stakeholders continues long after our assets become operational. We continue to build and maintain those relationships through community relations, emergency preparedness, and investment initiatives.

Collaboration

Working with Landowners

At Keyera, we recognize that the success of our business and the safety of our communities depend on strong partnerships with our neighbours.

We engage with landowners early and maintain those relationships throughout the lifecycle of our assets, begining with open discussions about potential projects, routes, timelines, and land considerations before any work begins.  As activities progress through construction and into ongoing operations and maintenace, our team works closely with landowners to provice updates, address questions, and ensure commitments are understood and respected.

Guided by fairness, openness, and respect, we take the time to listen, understand what matters to landowners, and stay accessible to support them throughout the lifecycle of our assets.
