As
part of our commitment to being an environmentally responsible citizen, Keyera
supports initiatives that care of and protect the environment, as well as those
that promote environmental education and awareness. These initiatives take many
forms, including investments in community environmental initiatives and
participation in local activities.
Keyera
recently signed a partnership with Ducks Unlimited Canada, to develop the
Sustainable Wetlands Centre at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The
Centre is a site where diverse stakeholder groups can demonstrate and learn
about innovative technologies and practices that reduce environmental
disturbance, build trust and improve profits.
Keyera
supports environmental education programs through two unique partnerships with
The Calgary Zoo and Arts Commons. We believe that educating students about the
world around them will encourage curiosity about the world, and help to foster
an appreciation for our environment and conservation practices.
Through
a three-year commitment with Arts Commons, Keyera helps to bring some of
National Geographic’s best and brightest to speak to Calgary students through
the National Geographic Live! speaker
series. Our support helps students, who would not otherwise be able to afford a
ticket, the ability to attend matinee performances and learn from experienced
explorers, photographers, filmmakers and scientists who share their personal
stories of conservation, exploration and adventure.
Keyera
also promotes conservation education through a partnership program with The
Calgary Zoo, where Calgary students can receive secondary school biology credits
for Population and Community Dynamics by attending on-site courses to learn
about conservation, genetics and population management.
