Construction Update: South Cheecham Rail and Truck Terminal

Construction continues throughout the winter months at Keyera’s South Cheecham Rail and Truck Terminal near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Terminal will be a multi-purpose hydrocarbon rail and truck terminal, designed to support bitumen producers within the Athabasca oil sands area.

The first phase of construction includes the two pipeline connections (pictured below) between the Terminal and Statoil and partner PTTEP’s Cheecham Terminal. The 12-inch dilbit pipeline will also be connected to Enbridge’s Cheecham terminal. The two pipelines (one 8-inch diluent line and one 12-inch dilbit line) will allow for the transportation of dilbit and diluent to and from the Terminal.

The Terminal will be developed in phases as demand for terminalling services evolves. Completion of the first phase is expected in the first half of 2013.
