Keyera is committed to developing and maintaining meaningful, long-term relationships with our neighbours, the communities in which we operate and other stakeholders that may be affected by our operations.
Keyera recognizes that we construct and operate facilities in areas where Aboriginal communities may be affected. We believe that working together with these Aboriginal communities will allow us to identify potential impacts of our activities on the community in order to develop mutually acceptable solutions and benefits.
Keyera’s approach to Aboriginal relations is guided by the following principles:
Keyera respects the diversity of Aboriginal cultures and seeks to understand the customs, values and traditions of Aboriginal peoples.
Keyera is committed to honest, open, ongoing communication with Aboriginal communities affected by our operations and seeks to engage in timely and meaningful consultation with these communities.
Keyera supports strategies intended to contribute to building capacity in Aboriginal communities, such as training, employment, business development and community investment opportunities related to our operational activities.
By building and maintaining long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with the Aboriginal communities in which we operate and which may be affected by our operations, we believe we can successfully conduct our operations while respecting community interests.
